My Story

On Friday 1 October 2021, I will be taking part in Glass Door Homeless Charity's Sleep Out. I will be giving up my bed for the night to raise awareness of homelessness and funds for Glass Door's life-saving work.

Glass Door provides safe shelter, food and advice to people affected by homelessness. During the pandemic, it was one of the few homeless services that remained opened and helped hundreds of people find routes out of homelessness.

I have been concerned about the plight of homeless people for many years. It is a situation that any one of us could experience if not for our friends, family, and fortune. This thought led me to write my novel Just Bea. I have spoken to many people living on the street, each one has a story. I dedicated Just Bea to them and now I want to show my support by raising funds and awareness.

We raised £535 at the fundraising tea party on 15th September. This is a huge achievement. Thank you to everyone who attended and worked hard to make this event a success. A big thank you to the shops and businesses of Frinton who generously donated raffle prizes and cakes.
